Who knew that merging a hardware company with a company that carried more reindeers than you’d find at the North Pole would become a match in retail heaven? Combining Grand Store Equipment (founded in 1948) and Benedicts Display (founded in 1945) in 1980 brought store owners the best of both worlds – everything from disco balls to wall standards in one place. For many companies, providing a one-stop convenience to customers would have been enough, but for G+B the retail race had just started.

Back in the old G+B days, we had seven fearless employees. At the time, polyester suits were hot sellers, and overseas store fixture production was unheard of. Known for seeing opportunity where others see risk, Frank “HF” Phillips was determined to change this. So we started communicating orders initially to Taiwan and later to China with a Telex machine, the predecessor to the fax. In the process, we pioneered overseas production without even realizing it. Every container we’ve shipped and every overseas partnership we’ve forged over the past 25 years has strengthened our global presence.

Today, G+B thrives with a team of over 100 employees every bit as driven as the first seven. We’ve grown from a local distributor selling to mom-and-pop shops to a global fixture producer serving national retailers. Although we no longer sell plastic Reindeers and have long since replaced the Telex machine, one thing remains the same – our drive to help your business succeed.
